Should children be left to make their own descision on religion?

Jada Pinket Smith says she has no intentions of persuading her children (Willow and Jaden) to become part of any religion, she want them to choose for themselves. With so many denominations in religion nowadays; is it safe to let children choose for themselves? How did you choose your religion?
